SUMMARY:  Assist the Public Relations Manager in coordinating, implementing and administering Treasure Island Resort & Casino’s and the Prairie Island Indian Community’s corporate image and perception through community engagement and partnership efforts. Responsible for a high level of guest service as described in your department’s guest service standards. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee Island Impact programming and all community engagement initiatives for Treasure Island and Prairie Island as needed

  • Work with Public Relations Manager to build and execute a local and regional community outreach plan that enhances Treasure Island’s image as a community leader and promotes long-standing commitment to giving

  • Hire, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate staff and conduct performance reviews

  • Direct daily work activities and inspect completed work for conformance to standards

  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional nonprofit organizations

  • Create innovative and impactful community programming with local and regional charitable partners

  • Plan and coordinate on- and off-property special events to support nonprofit partners

  • Work with manager to bring local and regional charitable events to Treasure Island

  • Serve and maintain an active role in local and regional community events such as Chamber of Commerce functions, fundraisers and community committees

  • Direct Treasure Island’s presence at local community engagement functions, including but not limited to festivals, parades and charitable golf tournaments

  • Support manager with construction and execution of sports and media partner charitable programming and initiatives

  • Work with other departments to establish giving initiatives that involve and impact Treasure Island guests, such as the Charity of the Month program

  • Create and execute community outreach and charitable giving opportunities for Treasure Island team members

  • Collaborate with manager to establish and implement Treasure Island donation guidelines and process

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of long-range public relations strategies such as responsible gaming, charitable giving/sponsorship programs, special events, etc.

  • Work with manager to determine budget and manage expenses

  • Assist with supporting Prairie Island Indian community engagement efforts as needed


 

KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and Certification

Required:


  • 4-year degree in public relations, communications or related field and 7 years’ community/public relations/related field experience with a nonprofit organization; a combination of equivalent experience and/or education

  • Experience in event planning and management

  • Experience in charitable giving administration

  • Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms

REQUIRED TRAINING


  • Treasure Island guest service training

  • Any training required as determined by department director


 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Must be able to walk, stand or sit for long periods throughout the day

  • Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel and stoop

  • Must have the ability to independently lift up to 25+ pounds occasionally


 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT


  • Office, restaurant, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke and outdoors for guest events

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including all shifts, weekends and holidays 

  • Extensive computer use

  • Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals

  • High volume direct public contact
